Stanley D. Hoehn, MD., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Stanley Hoehn is Medical Director of the Weight Loss Surgery Program at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and approved as an ASMBS Bariatric Center of Excellence Surgeon. 

Dr. Hoehn received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and graduated from medical school from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. He completed his surgical residency and internship at the University of Kansas in 1999.

Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Hoehn is also a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgery. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Kansas University Department of Surgery and assists surgical residents in their training.

Dr. Hoehn is a founding member of the Bariatric Center of Kansas City. He combines skills that he uses daily in his bariatric and general surgery practice to perform weight loss surgery at both Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, and Heartland Spine and Specialty Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas.

He received specialized training in the fall of 2002 in San Diego, California from Drs. Wittgrove and Clark, founders of the laparoscopic technique for Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery. He also trained with the InaMed Corporation, developer of the LapBand® system, in the spring of 2004. Dr. Hoehn will also be offering the Laparoscopic Gastric Sleeve Gastrectomy in the summer of 2008 for patients wishing an alternative to the Laparoscopic Banding procedure and Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass.

Dr. Hoehn has performed over 850 Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedures and over 900 LapBand® gastric banding procedures. Dr. Hoehn has had an advanced laparoscopic surgery practice for the past eight years in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Dr. Hoehn’s goal is to provide surgical excellence within a compassionate atmosphere along with lifelong quality patient support.
