December 7th was the end of a very painful existence and the beginning of a new healthier life. That was the day Dr. Hoehn performed LapBand surgery on me.
One week prior to surgery I weighed 248 pounds. During the past few years my health had paid the price for the extra weight I had gained. Every few months I would be hospitalized due to uncontrolled Type II diabetes and other health related issues. I was taking four insulin shots and two diabetic medications a day to help control the diabetes. I was on medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and restless leg syndrome. I had neuropathy in both feet, muscle weakness in my legs, fatigue, sleep apnea, urinary stress incontinence and esophageal reflux and heartburn.
Since the very first day of the LapBand surgery, I have been free of all insulin and medications except for one thyroid pill. I have lost over 70 pounds, and hope to lose forty more. I know with this wonderful tool it will happen.
My husband and I took two of our grandchildren to Disney World for six days. We were up at the crack of dawn and spent all day in the amusement parks. I am amazed at the energy and overall good health I now have. I never dreamed I would be where I am today; happy, healthy and full of life. I know I have many more years ahead of me.
